He is crying out there!
Couple of months back when LO started going to daycare, it was a tough time for both of us. Actually I tried to make the transition as slow as possible by taking him to his day care just for an hour and a half and me staying with him there all the time for one full week. Next week I took him to daycare only for 1.5 hour but disappeared for 30 minutes. This way slowly slowly I tried to get him used to the environment. However, when I started leaving him for 3 hours with me being there, there were few days when he was crying at daycare. This made my heart filled with sadness and many a times I thought of leaving my job and taking care of him sitting at home. Even when I used to come to office, I used to feel very sad. In those days some people when asked me how is my son doing, I would say that he is at the daycare and probably crying. They used to smile and tell me, 'O! he is crying out there, not here'. Well, I never understood that why should this make me less anxious. Its not about 'me seeing my LO crying', but its about 'my LO crying'. And his tears, whether they come out in front of me or in my absence, will make me equally sad. In fact, I am better off if my LO is crying in front of me, because then at least I have the option to console him. Thankfully he has totally adjusted to his daycare and in fact likes being there. Many a time when he sees his favorite teacher there, he just goes to her and waves me bye. I feel good that he is in good hands. I want him to be happy happy.

Everybody Poops!!!
Well, I didn't think this will be the title of my first blog post! However, I bet that all the Moms out there will agree with the importance of poop! The day your baby is born, you are shown a big poster of various kinds of poop with all the possible colors of a rainbow. And you learn what a green poop means, what a yellow poop means etc. etc. A leaflet says if your baby does not have 3 poopy diapers in 48 hours, check with your doctor. Half the first time Moms then find themselves at their doc's clinic stressed about their baby's poop. After this initial phase, poop problem seems to settle down and Moms know about the rhythm of their baby's poop-- breastfed babies pooping quite often, many time after every feed; while formula fed babies having firmer poop and pooping less frequently. Poop worries again surface when babies are started on solids- some have constipation, some have stinky poop, some have stinkier poop (yes, it never smells pleasant!). Once you are past that stage and you kind of start relaxing, there comes poop-worry teasing you again... your baby has severe constipation...Most of the babies, when make transition from breastmilk/formula to homogenized milk, face constipation. Your baby's red face while trying to poop makes you melt but nothing you can do except praying that he/she poops!
Well, I am facing this third stage of poop-worries since past 2 weeks. Read tons of websites.....got all kinds of fibers and foods in LO's diet, called doctor and even had to get enema put at one occasion! Doctor said that if babies have constipation, they learn to hold the poop and it becomes firmer and even more difficult to release! Today out of desperation got a book from library called 'Everybody Poops'! I was reading it to LO. Don't know about LO but I had to go for a bathroom visit soon after reading the book!! I had a grant proposal deadline and all I was thinking about the poop sitting in my office. Not only that, I was actually smelling poop everywhere and feeling good about the smell...Yes, the fragrances of perfumes do not excite me any more, its the poop smell once everyday that makes me sing happy songs because it tells me that my baby is doing alright. Am I one crazy Mom or what!
